Meet Our Team
As of December 2018, we have a team of 14 highly experienced roofers, labourers & office staff. None of our labourers are with us to be career labourers. All are skilled & are encouraged to train towards more advanced roofing skills. We fund and encourage the training of our staff to ensure they are taught by the most highly qualified instructors available. Below are some photographs of our team, to allow you to put a name to the face when they turn up at your property.
More About Barris Roofing
Barris Roofing was started by Peter in 1984. Prior to that, Peter gained his experience working for 10 years in the re-roofing industry in West London. Peter and a business partner at the time took a part of both of their names and formed barRIS roofing. Peter ran the business successfully for many years, before forming a partnership with son, Nick (who had also been running a sole-trader roofing business) in 2010. Nick brought with him, ideas of expansion, and it wasn’t long before the two of them formed a Ltd company partnership. Nick focused on advertising and branding the company (whilst also working on site) & Peter focused on the day to day running of the company. In 2012, the firm invested in two new Transit vehicles. By this point the Barris logo was a familiar site on scaffolds in London and South London, so the vans were swiftly sign-written and sent out to work. After a few staff change-overs, the current team was finally put together. It was Nick’s goal to employ a polite and well educated team to dissolve the stereotype often associated with roofing contractors. It is a very strong team, with a good skill level. It wasn’t long after, that the company invested in another transit vehicle, bringing the tally to 6.
Expansion in skill was also a priority, and the company engaged in a training initiative, specifically in the GRP sector. We are now approved installers of Scott Bader Crystic GRP Roofing, Approved Europolymers contractors and members of the NFRC. On top of this, the firm earned accreditation from Trustmark (a government endorsed quality control scheme), Competent Roofer (which allows self-certification based on knowledge and quality tests) & members of the much publicised Checkatrade.
The company then invested in more tools, ladders and aluminium towers.
With offices in Clapham and Croydon, and both directors being based in Surrey, it was a sure thing that the company should set up a Surrey based office. This is now based in Godstone. With a great team behind us, and a good balance of marketing & enquiries, the company are pacing towards further expansion in the future. Being family owned, the company will always be safe in knowing that standards will not be allowed to slip.
